I was very excited to work on the identity for San Antonio based business, Wurst Kart. The brain child of husband and wife team Lindsay and J.C. Rodriguez they serve up delicious handmade sausages and more. I wanted to create an identity that was as visually appealing as their food is. Naturally my color palette ended up being mustard yellow and "wurst" red. Services included: Development of the logo system. Shown here are both the A & B logos, such that in different spaces and or applications Wurst Kart's brand will always look great and stand out. I also created some fun collateral and marketing pieces using the B logo as well visual brand extension imagery to be used in social media / various marketing materials.
Mira K. Patel - Marriage & Family Therapy
It was a pleasure to work with Mira on developing the identity for her new practice. The goal that Mira was wanting to accomplish with this visual identity was to convey a sense of peace and tranquility but with a distinctly modern feel. Developing a clean and non abrasive color palette was step number one. Creating the 'mark' and typographic lockup was the next part of the project. My personal goal was to develop a logo for Mira that conveyed the most basic goal of her work (communication and ideally, togetherness) but without looking anything like what one may consider 'industry standard' within the realm of counseling services. Once these elements were in place we created business stationary, print ad's, social media graphics as well as a simple and clean mobile friendly website. You can visit Mira here and there.
Ciao! - Product Branding / Packaging
Are you a night owl? Be fun and creative all day...or night with CIAO! Prototype packaging and branding for this Iced Italian coffee product. With this project my aim was to create a fun and exciting visual representation of the product, and one which would stand out from its competitors on the shelf. Bright colors and hand drawn type / illustrations allow this identity to feel familiar and exciting all at the same time. The likely target demographic would be young creative folks with which this minimalist handmade aesthetic is likely to resonate. Anyways, it doesn't exist...but it would be cool. CIAO!
Football, Etc. - 'Disappear' EP - Packaging
'Disappear' EP was released on Count Your Lucky Stars records in the U.S. and Strictly no Capital Letters in the UK on beautiful vinyl, as well as in Japan on Stiffslack records as an expanded CD-EP. Creating a packaging system that is at once the same but functionally different is always a fun design challenge, especially in this case as this body of work was released in three different countries spanning two different audio formats. Each piece has it's own detail elements, but also work great together. Original art and design was completed in 2015.
First single from the record premiered on NPR See more of my packaging design here
St. Louis Wedding - Stationary System
This project was a real treat to work on. The creative brief was short.. it was "Great Gatsby" and the color palette was easy "gold, gold, gold... and some black". The 'Save the Date' cards were offset printed using a metallic gold Pantone atop beautiful ebony 100lb. French cover stock. After completing these we moved on to the poster phase. Believe it or not, this couple decided they wanted three posters to commemorate their special day. One for the city: St. Louis, secondly for the building the ceremony took place in: The Jewel Box, and lastly one for the location of the reception: The MAC. I created these illustrations using reference photos that the clients supplied and then had the completed works printed via silk screen using a hand mixed metallic ink onto very thick natural stock. Finished size was 18" x 24" *This work was completed in 2015 under the employment of the fosforus agency in Austin, TX.
Hershey Co. - Annual Report
Every company needs an attractive annual report and every would be designer is tasked with making one before she or he is allowed out into the wild. So this is that but...I'm still pleased with the work all these years later. Each page was printed with 'Hersheys Brown' ink onto silver vellum and then hand trimmed. Now if I could only be paid to create info graphics using chocolate candies... Thanks for the inspiration Hersheys.
These letters are a personal project. I was interested in exploring the construction and destruction of letter forms within the visual space of a square. This is an ongoing project, as I find the time to work on it. Happily, several of these letterforms have been featured in typography and design blogs such as Good Typography and Typornography
The Friskies - Film Festival Branding
'The Friskies' has been a yearly film festival for cats and cat lovers alike. Hosted by the Purina Friskies brand, the festival has now been running for 3 years having begun in 2012. The look and feel of the festival changes slightly each year depending upon the personal tastes and or expectations of the brand team involved. One of the key challenges has been evolving the visual aesthetic each year while maintaining a consistent look. Each year involves different projects ranging from: website (shown here are examples from 2014's iteration) large format posters (2012, 2013) billboard ads, such as a digital billboard in New York's Times Square (2012). Social media marketing web banners, video banners and static web ad's have also been a part of each year. In 2014 I designed trade show booth signage and brand activation pieces (shown here is the VidCon 2014 in Los Angeles featuring Grumpy Cat) Social Media takeovers, printed items and collateral pieces as well as live event branding, stage backdrops etc. pictured at bottom Michael Ian Black and Angela Kinsley at the 2013 live event. * This work was completed during 2012, 2013 & 2014 for the Purina Friskies® company under the employment of the fosforus agency in Austin, TX.
